baring my bones on the subject of love.
********
i grew up overcoming many adversities.
early on, i wrecked my life to find the perfect plug for the hole in my soul.
i've learned to walk through many trials and troubles.
one might say i am a strong woman.
but there's one teeny tiny thing that quite recently became a giant granite boulder
in my path:
love.
it's easy for me to push you away, keep you at arm's length.
i can laugh with you, cry with you, delight in your stories, tell you mine.
but the one thing that baffles me every time, one thing i will not let you do to me:
love.
'til now.
'til now.
'til now.
'til now.
three days. many pages of journaling. multiple sticks of pencil lead.
i wrote and wrote.
i erased.
and then i wrote some more.
i erased.
and then i wrote some more.
trying to find the meaning.
yeah. sure. i'm an overthinker.
i try too hard and too often to figure things out.
i wish i could just let it all go.
but it's the nature of this beast.
my job entails thinking planning walking-thinking walking-planning....
so i'm quite used to processing in ye ol' brain spaces.
but just to turn it all off, to let it all go, to feel instead of think....
it's difficult for me.
i scoured the books on the shelves, searching for the meaning of love.
i can tell you what all the words say.
i can relay to you all the definitions.
but, to feel it?
i promise you: i shall try.

It is this...love is NOT about you. Or being loved. Its a verb. Its about giving the gift of freedom to another whom you treasure, appreciate, admire, feel like you are made of the same starstuff ....to be EXACTLY who they are, WITHOUT expectation. Not even the expectation that they love you back. Its not an exchange...its a gift of soul.
deep bow in your direction.
and a hug to that pooch.
I have felt us exchange love
I can see that you are love
I was just talking about love with a sister-friend last night during a beautiful evening walk...we were watching herons build their nests, eagle catch his dinner all under a golden/pink sky of sunset...and yes it was as magical as it sounds.
Love, much like Kerin said, is something that can not be bound, boxed or packaged. It ebbs and flows and molds for each person...it is never the same thing twice, it is an energy that pushes up, pushes down...stretches us in the most amazing ways...it is a mystery worth knowing, a gift worth giving and receiving, it Is....
Love never ceases to amazing me.....
You never cease to amaze me
you are love
I am love
we are all love in the flesh....
love and light my lovely friend
i think, i feel, i got twisted up somehow along my path, quite recently. it goes much deeper than this questioning of love. it goes as deep as looking at human nature and wondering "why" when i see others hurt those i love.
i suppose i need to do some more writing.
thanks for stopping by and "talking" to me about this, lovely friend.
love and light to you.
it's difficult for me.
this is where your puzzle piece lies...a challenged faced by many in this world...how to connect the brain to the heart and then how to think from the heart instead of the brain...this take practice and a certain level of bravery...
as far as hurt
well that my friend, is a whole other jar or worms..so to speak
it has been my experience that people hurt because they hurt...this doesn't excuse hurting others, we are all responsible for how we treat ourselves and others, but sometimes we hurt others without even knowing and sometimes we are just hurting ourselves...unfortunately or fortunately this is a part of living the human experience.
I say fortunately because I believe in every hurt there is a hidden gift...hard to find when the hurt is fresh, but later, later something always brings light....
anyways
just some thoughts
nice "talking" with you
love and light
That second sentence you penned. It's so sad.
And now, you've got me thinkin' & thinkin'. Like you do. You're a heavy thinker. You carry it with you. You won't let it go.
It's because you care so deeply. We all can see that, through our blogs, the genuine love in the things you say.
Love is many things. It's what you think it is. It's what you want it to be.
But, as cheesy as this sounds, Whitney Houston sang the line that describes it perfectly to me: Learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all.
I remind myself of that from time to time. It's a great reminder.
Marie? What is that creature with the big black ears behind that cage?
And lastly, will you send me your email address please?
XXOO
love and light
and, my email address is on its way to you!!
Thank you for being part of the good in mine.
xx
sometimes it's all so MUCH, isn't it?
you have a stellar group of friends, dear woman, which indicates to me (and I already knew this) that you do love, you feel love, you are love. just look at the responses here!!!!
thinking and loving/feeling are often not good partners. i'm reading about this very thing right now, with admonition to go with what you're feeling. if what you're feeling isn't good, change it. it sounds simple, but really nothing else works. we can think circles around what we're doing or not doing and it doesn't change a thing.
how do you want to feel?
go do it.
we're all right here with you.
xoxo
is not one emotion, it's all of them.
and I learned the hard way, that when you let it in, you get all of them. even the messy ones...
peace on the path ... lean in, it just keeps giving you more things to think about, ponder and walk to/thru
:)
i'm leaning.
thanks for helping me through this....
