clearing the mind.

the past
caught up with me
on friday.
my heart was ripped open
and
body memories poured out.

the heaviness
still clouded my mind
on saturday
and the only way to sort it all out
was to ride long and hard
up the hill and back.

all the hate and confusion
ran like rivulets of winter melt-off.

i live from friday to friday:
to pour it all out.
to deal with the past.
to know that the heaviness will soon pass.
to know my cartographer
still holds the map.

when I was an art therapy student, I had an amazing teacher who said that the therapists job was to hold the container for the client's soul-spirit-self until they were ready to take it back and carry it in their hands themselves...
I have always loved this metaphor...
It sounds like you are being carried beautifully..
so...
take your time and space to heal....
the container will be there waiting for you when you are ready...

Strange as this may seem... I think this post is so beautiful.
I find certain parallels between your current writings and some of my current experiences.

Last week was a big week of letting go for me.
I found this poem and it was just what I needed.
Perhaps I could share it with you?

When
The violin
Can forgive the past

It starts singing.

When the violin can stop worrying
About the future

You will become
Such a drunk laughing nuisance

That God
Will then lean down
And start combing you into
His
Hair.

When the violin can forgive
Every wound caused by
Others

The heart starts
Singing.

You're a generous woman!
I love this poem too. It's from a collection of Persian poems to God by Sufi Master, Hafiz.

It's a good idea to have a cartographer on hand!
