land ownership.

sometimes:
words are spoken.

sometimes:
words hurt.

sometimes:
the ache of misunderstanding
plants itself deep in our hearts
and
the roots twist firm and long
and
don't give up the grip for years on end.

today:
an apology.
a hug.
two humans smiling at each other.

the solution was that simple:
an apology
and
a basket of strawberry plants.

after meeting the neighbour
on the back property line:
i took photos.

[do you know what *this* is??]

i greeted my favourite tree.

there were reminders of the summer:
quickly fading now
but
still memorialized in my heart.

while walking back down the hill:
i stopped to carve this reminder
into the road.

the reminder that although
we don't always see eye-to-eye:
i love you.
fiercely.

i've never really seen this land as *mine*....
i'm simply the caretaker.

comforting feelings flood my soul.
i'm so happy:
i really am.

****

carrying the last of the fireweed into the house:
love seeped through every fiber of my being.

indeed.
absolutely.
true that.
amen.

black bear scat. fresh i'd say, from the looks of it. for some reason i was not at all afraid. i had just made amends with the neighbour and out hiking through our wild acreage....full of God and love.

feeling that bittersweetness myself lately. Some things have come full circle in a surprising way.
