the business of living. and leaning. and learning.

to learn from animal beings

nearer to the earth's heart,
deeper within its silence:
animals know this world
in a way we never will.

we who are ever
distanced and distracted
by the parade of bright
windows thought opens:
their seamless presence
is not fractured thus.

stranded between time
gone and time emerging,
we manage seldom
to be where we are:
whereas they are always
looking out from
the here and now.

may we learn to return
and rest in the beauty
of animal being,
learn to lean low,
leave our locked minds,
and with freed senses
feel the earth
breathing with us.

may we enter
into lightness of spirit,
and slip frequently into
the feel of the wild.

let the clear silence
of our animal being
cleanse our hearts
of corrosive words.

may we learn to walk
upon the earth
with all their confidence
and clear-eyed stillness
so that our minds
might be baptized
in the name of the wind
and light and the rain.

i've been too tired lately.
tired and weepy.
tired from working too hard, forgetting to tend to myself.
i am tired of saying
"i'm so tired…."

time to pick myself up by the bootstraps, take on the business of living.
i vow to live life to the fullest.
i vow to write many letters.
and eat all the cookies i can hold. for this weekend, anyway….

life is good.

Cookies sound like a good start to self care. Letters, too.

The animal beings live in the moment....this I know to be true....so , when the crappy stuff happens, know who it belongs to and try to float above it....or just eat cookies!

i've heard it said that in the end it isn't what people did that they regret but the things they didn't do. let's commit to doing the things that we might otherwise regret not having done.

cookies are a good place to start.

and i already know that you are good about letter.

my good and dear friends:
letters and cookies.
tomorrow.
won't you all stop by, please?
there's milk.
and there will be warm cookies.
and lots of hugs. and lots of laughs.

I will r u n
all the way to your forest
Tracking red dirt all over your deck
bringing you a three layer, no four,
carrot cake, (so trapper could have some too)
And it will have some, not many, candles
the kind that don't blow out (just for fun)
And a song will be sung. That special one.
I'll sing like the littlest bird, baby!
And then I hope we can dance around,
Like friends do, when they celebrate life.
Milk sounds good, too.
