a post wherein there are many photos and a few words.

these days, i wake when my body says it is ready to rise from sleep.
slowly, i dress, first anointing impaired parts of my body with various oils,
donning a dress and leggings,
a fleece,
and favourite adornments.
tea and more tea lend to lazy writing in the journal.
most likely, the best thing i have done for myself was to take early leave
from a structured job.
i wake some days amazed that i do not have to go sign in and work for pay earned.
i have announced to mister pencilfox, with some commitment involved --
this summer, my job will be to walk coyote hill and tend to the garden.

today, mister pencilfox filled water barrels and tractor'd them up the hill
to our freshly-tilled garden plot.
i filled a water bottle for myself, loaded up my pockets with necessary oils --
geranium as an insect repellant,
lavender, just because,
spruce and others for massaging my shoulder.
i leisurely strolled up coyote hill, allowing my mind to wander,
snapping photos along the way.
thoughts came to me about what i am not and what i am --
i am no longer a 30-year-old, given to running up and down hills,
i am a 50-something-year-old warrior with many more good years under my belt.
immediately, i looked down and there was a heart-shaped stone.
i picked it up, held it in my hand, and knew that the universe was speaking to me.

****

it's a good life.

This is the most meaningful and beautiful post I've read in a long time. Here's to all of us...the 50-something warriors. We bloom when we're good and ready, right? May we all have many, many more good years to come.

the new schedule sounds most rewarding...must share the science that the worms in the soil produce chemicals that behave like endorphins so dig your hands into that soil as often as possible but carry one of those cushion kneeling pads so your knees don't get tired....seriously....xoxo
