jubilation :: a post for my friend.
********
today i learned that a little-used spanish word for retirement translates to
jubilation.
that's exactly how i felt today, after working four hours in my garden.
i took early retirement in order to take care of myself,
and then committed to being the pencilfox gardener for this summer.
my days end in the garden, often in prayerful meditation and thanksgiving
for all i have been given.
my closest alaskan friend called me several times this evening
[yes, i carry a mobile phone up coyote hill for just in case….]
to report to me her news of the day.
at the end of the last phone call, she thanked me for listening.
"we listen to each other's crazy-ass problems…."
yes.
yes, we do.
we know how to make each other laugh,
because we console each other through the hard times and the tears.
so, my friend, this post is for you.
especially that last photo.
i thought you'd enjoy seeing my garden-dirty feet.

it's a good life….
