closing 'er down.

******

dragging my feet today.
is this my last and final day in the garden?
is this bittersweetness edged with joy that i am feeling?

i worked alone on coyote hill, alone with the animals.

a cool gentle breeze was blowing, loosening golden leaves from birch and cottonwood.
fruit and water were at hand for nourishment.
fencing was dismantled, metal posts were pulled and stacked,
hose and cords were wound and carried and stored.
i stopped often, checking progress, amazed at all that was accomplished.
i pulled onions.
i cut a cosmos bouquet.
milo roamed the hill, yowling in question, do i work, or hunt, or sleep??

this was a fine day :: i feel it in my bones, i feel it in my heart.
