rest for all living things.

*

These are the days pre-Solstice, the light very minimal,
the feeling of deep dark rest
falling over all living things.

Everyone in the house is resting these days, healing from one thing or another,
processing their own personal feelings,
even the cat,
except I tend to not believe his stories of woe.

Today I wrote out some season cards.
Watercolour'd several feathers.
Enjoyed the quiet of the house.

And, today,
 I shall snowshoe,
deep into the quiet resting forest.

I’m living a very small life. Enjoying the outdoors daily with a fire in the woods. Just me and my dogs . I love solitude. I never try to find myself because the self of an hour ago is gone. I am always new. I have a trail and a ranger. I’m trying to train Russell into riding it instead of running with it, because he is an old dog and injures himself in his excitement.

I love your small life and I love my small life, too. Ain’t nothing better in the scheme of things. And this thing about never trying to find (your)(my)self because the self of an hour ago is gone, that’s pretty profound and I’m gonna have to write about it in my journal.
