Grace.
Recently I listened to a podcast wherein Bono was interviewed by Brené Brown,
and he spoke of words from the hymn Amazing Grace:
Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound.........
Grace is a sound.
It's a sound.
*
I don't know about you, but lately I've been in need of much grace.
I long for it.
I want it.
I need it.
My thoughts overwhelm me, and are sometimes unending and circular, and they become a cell
in which my mind is held captive.
I do what I can to not go there and let go, but it's more a feeling that I am waiting for
the other shoe to drop. I'm still waiting for the unfinished to fall in a pile at my feet.
Really, where I think it will land is actually at the apex of my heart.
I know I should just simply let it all go and find something else to do to occupy my mind,
like, I'm reading an engrossing book right now, and it's easy for me to become lost in the words,
but there's something I can intuit that is just not right... it's not sitting well in my heart.
So, I snowshoe.
That is exactly where I find my grace, ascending Coyote Hill and getting lost amongst the trees.
I follow Pintō and Berry, watching them as they wander the forests, punching new trails of their own. They show me how to make one's own joy, and for that, I am grateful. I hear the songbirds before I see them flitting in and out amongst the trees on the hill. Mostly I hear my own heart calling to the Heavenlies, asking for some mercy and grace, and more time, and some space between what has happened and what may still happen.
Grace is a sound.
I'm gonna keep listening.
