That's how trees do.

Lessons.
So many lessons.

Recently I celebrated 27 years of sobriety.

That being said, I am getting back into going to a few meetings a week,
mostly to listen to like-minded folks talk about how they remain sober physically,
and how they maintain their emotional sobriety.

Let's just say, it's been a long hard winter of coming to grips with my behaviours,
trying to stay out of my own way,
trying to stay out of the way of others as they choose to show up in their lives.

I have been snowshoe'ing every day, but the snow is becoming quite punchy
under the heat of the sun.
Berry is able to negotiate deep snow, but my sweet Pintō is pushing-through
the deep and slushy snowcone snow.
I stop at my designated tree at the end of my trek,
removing eyeglasses and gloves,
leaning in to my tree,
wrapping my arms around it,
hugging it hard,
eyes closed.
I fully understand that most likely any message I send to the intended person
will not be delivered unless they, too, have their arms wrapped around a tree.
Trees cannot simply relay the message unless it is sent via underground root network.

That's simply how trees do.

It's a good life.
