summer's end: kinda sorta saying goodbye.
*****
Definitely a summer that kicked my garden's ass, but to hear it from the world record holder at the Alaska State Fair Giant Cabbage Weigh-Off, it's not that we had intensely sunny days or days of torrential rains, it's that the weather was not consistent. Meaning, we saw hot/sunny one day, then cold/cloudy the next, and this type of pattern all summer long. Even the folks working towards growing "just that special giant vegetable" for exhibits faced the same conditions.
Today I dismantled the remaining infrastructure of my Coyote Hill garden. The bittersweetness of summer coming to a close always stirs up the transience which sits in my soul. This feeling stays until the first snowfall, then I am OK as I move forward into Winter.
Kale and poppies remain standing in the garden. Whirligigs are still moving with the winds. Garden chairs are positioned where they've been since Spring, inviting me to take a sit when the Allies and I do our walkies up Coyote Hill into the forests.

It's a good life.
