morning pages.

a dear friend
sent to me the book
"the vein of gold"
and
immediately
i fell into it.
the rhythm was cathartic yet soothing for my soul.

morning pages
for this
night owl
turn out to be written upon waking
in the gentle alaskan evening light
many know as their
winding-down time.

so i sit with
"ever-sharp" leaded pencil
and
a journal.
a large 8-1/2 x 11 size journal
is suggested
for writing out one's morning pages.
for now
my journal of choice:
a small boku journal.
easily transported in the messenger bag
which throws over my shoulder
and
carries all the necessities for my daily travels.

and then:
in the posted mail
comes yet another box of treasures
to let me know
i am loved.

sage to stimulate olfactory senses.
a small hand-held mirror.
beads and bits of glass and silk.
budded twigs.
sweet paper butterflies.
baubles for decorating the basket of my blue bicycle.
little treasures for feeding the eye.
little treasures that nourish the soul.

all of this feeding of the soul
has worked its way into
my very inner being.
my crystal lattice.

this shell.
this body.
this corporate unit
is shedding its excess
and
i am healthier.

a cartographer continues to guide my steps
while he holds the map of this journey.

my life is good
and
the plates are set before me:
platters heaped with little treasures
for replenishing.
 the weariness i feel
after the emptying of my energies while at work
is soon forgotten
when i sit at the table
and
write out morning pages
while consuming:
thick rich black tea.
 wild idaho game.
wild alaskan salmon.

life is so stinkin' good:
all i have to do is look around me
to remember this.
