playday.

********

we woke early today, the pooches and the cat and i.
today would be the last day of holiday and we knew we had to make the most of it.

after chores, after knitting awhile, i moved to the studio.
once a year my bead-strung necklaces receive a re-do.
today was the appointed day for the pearls
gifted to me many years ago by mister pencilfox.
it's difficult to believe we have been married for fifteen years.

it's long been a trademark of mine
to tie an embellishment of one sort or another to the clasp of necklaces.
let's just say it appeals to the gypsy in my blood.

this little leaf is a favourite:
sister-mine petunia sent me a package of these beads,
so long ago she may not remember,
but i do, and i still have the label from the package.
i hang onto little labels and do-dads and bejewelments
simply and mostly out of sentiment.
so today, little leaf received her facelift.

and now.
now.
i feel ready to return to work after seventeen heavenly playdays away from work.
like many of my friends
[who have admitted their idiosyncrasies to me]
i suffer from a wee bit of anxiety, especially when i know what is facing me,
combining that with the unknown of what is awaiting me.
my friends know me well:
i shall gird my loins and strap on my breastplate, so to speak.
i will be ready for the beast of uncertainty,
essential oils in my skirt pocket, my favourite jewels wrapped and strapped upon me,
black leggings and boots for the effect of strength and soundsnap.

i'm ready.
and i shall have my friends, you, my boogledies, tucked into my heartpocket.
you will be with me, guarding my heart, patting my back, bolstering my mind,
and most importantly, being the prayer in my soul.

see you on the other side of all that.

********

p.s.
we are ending our day with a cup of tea and this film.

OH, OH....I DO remember those beads. When I saw the picture, i remembered them! Yes, and remember, along with the breastplate to sharpen the sword (smile).

1. yes, my friend, i will be with you in all those ways when you return to work.
2. i hang onto little labels, do-dodads, and bejewelments simply and mostly out of sentiment, too. THAT'S WHAT MADE IT SO HARD TO MOVE AND PROBABLY WHY MY STUDIO ISN'T SET UP YET!!
3. idiosyncrasies? anxiety? what? ;-)
4. we're the same age (close...) and we've both been married 15 years. ( this time...)
5. how do you link your blog to flikr?
*xx*

my dear pony sister.
i believe that wordpress, like blogger, has a setting to "link"....but i am not sure if wordpress allows an "image" such as a photo to be posted as a link image....

i knew we were much alike. in many ways: i have heard the ponies whisper it into the wind........

It never hurts to have a little protection, as well as defense.
