march blog-o-sphere think tank: the seasons.

********

this month we are blogging about the seasons:
which season is our favourite?
how do we feel during any particular season?
how are we affected by seasons?

here in alaska, the joke is "there are two seasons: winter, and not winter."
and, that's about the simple truth.
winter seems to last 7 - 8 months out of the year, which leaves 4 - 5 months of "not winter."

when i moved to alaska 26 years ago, i decided to make the most of winter.
after all, winter seems to make the most of its presence, so why not join it?

living in the last frontier, this magical wild and wonderful alpine hinterland,
i am inspired, no matter the season:
colours and textures are knitted and beaded and sewn,
and i wear them every day.
wools of scrub spruce and mud browns and blue alaska skies,
cottons of brightly colour'd ponies and birds and paisleys and flowers....
these are my palette.
so many colours.
so many textures.
all these inspirations.

for instance: "not winter"....

"not winter" finds me outdoors every day of my life, surrounded by sky and earth and forest and stream.

and, then: "winter"....

"winter" brings more subdued hues but the "not winter" colours are still with me:
i live them.
i wear them.
i have been inspired by them, so i want them with me, every moment of every day.
especially in this world of white, the deep rich colours warm my soul.

what is this "think tank" - ??
andes cruz formed a group of friends who blog from all different areas of life,
posting within a 'once a month' blog circle.
we all write on the same topic, and give our own flavour and twist to our
individual posts.

please join me in perusing the posts of those who joined this month's
blog-o-sphere think tank.

life is magical....inspiring....wild and wonderful....no matter the season.

life is good.

Oh how fun...I follow your way...I go with the season and love what it has to offer...I love your two seasons, I think it is simpler. Happy not winter to you! xoxo

Ah yes. well 2 season's narrows it down. Also I do find the further north one goes, and the more extreme the differences, the more they affect me....

rather than seasons, i am affected by the conditions:
sunny/not sunny,
and windy/not windy.
i am very partial to sunny/not windy days,
no matter the season.
today, though, i am excited that it is spring!!!!

you poor folks "elsewhere" are being slammed with the snow WE should have received this year!

no kidding.
you and i think alike on things.
i don't walk out the door thinking "winter" or "summer"....i think "sun" or "rain" or "WIND!"

happy vernal equinox to you, my sweet friend!

Winter, not winter, they all bring something unique and neccessary. I find the cycles of nature can be much like the cycles of the spirit. Sleep, wake, getting stuck in the muck, a gracious thaw. Rejoice the shift!

i do, brandi. you know that. and i know *you* rejoice in the shifts and cycles....
