this day. this charmed life.

********

this is my life.
this is my charmed life.
living here at pencilfox acres with a partner who allows me room
to live my little life.
i say goodbye to him more often than he bids me adieu.
it seems he needs to go more often than do i.
i'm more than happy to plant myself right here in the middle of all this,
sitting at the firepit, writing in a journal, penning letters.

this morning mister pencilfox taught me to drive the tractor.
i could not stop grinning as i made a practice run up the hill and back.
now i really belong here, even though i have lived here 26 years.
you see, it was mister pencilfox who turned this hinterland acreage
into something so very practicable and viable.
and now i feel more a part of what was already mine.
because now it is ours.

there's not much left to this summer.
but i'm enjoying every last minute of it.

sometimes i am filled with self-doubt.
my shoulders go cold and my arms quiver.
will i ever be ready?
as the saying goes:
be yourself.
everyone else is taken.

i am making preparations....the door is always open.

life is good.

Just a plowin' an a grinin'. I can see it sooo clearly.
I think you're ready. I do.
If you were anyone else, I'd have no one to call Bernard.
Well, except for Peaches, that is. ;)
Sending you bear hugs across the mountains!!

wanna tag along??

I was going to write something about this post and your readiness and the excitement that comes from riding a tractor- all in some nice, pretty words... but then I saw you call prairie, "red dirt," and I just couldn't stop laughing. I don;t know why. It just seems perfect and silly. You ladies are so lovely! How ever did I get so lucky to "meet" you both?
