kissing the sky.

********

a month passed since my last trip up coyote hill,
one day before shoulder surgery, and the ground was white with snow.
of course, that trip was made on snowshoes.

yesterday i pulled on boots and hiked rather easily up coyote hill.
i was pleasantly surprised at how easy the trip was, not having performed
much aerobic exercise except for going up and down the staircases
of this three-story house, which does provide a bit of bodily exertion.
after forty-one days or so recovering, i felt afraid to venture out without company.
my pure-soul surgeon said
be careful to not fall….be careful with your shoulder….
i carefully made my way up the hill, hiking stick and water bottle in hand.
i sat in the woods, pensing and praying,
watching mister pencilfox work the garden plot
as he carried cured manure in the bucket of the tractor, tilling the soil.
i made my way back down the hillside, watching for scree and twigs,
feeling stronger, feeling satisfied,
feeling blessed.

this trip was exactly what my soul needed.
i felt like i was kissing the sky.

it's a good life….

There are few things a hike in a favorite place cannot heal. Few things time in the woods cannot soothe. Be strong, woman. Enjoy that good life you have. xx

With a view like that, you *were* kissing the sky! I know your hill is happy to have you back.

I imagine that felt like quite a milestone. Your body remembers its wellness. Here's to many, many hikes to come :)

A SOUL HIKE. That's what it sounds like to me.
I can only imagine all the neat things you thought of on your way up & then back down again.
Big grin. I'm so happy for your reunion with nature.

i'm so very glad to hear that you are once again climbing your hill and that you are able to do it with ease! sounds like the recovery is moving along nicely. our garden is currently mud-- rain, rain, and more rain. in fact, driving into town this afternoon i noticed that the creek is over its banks again as was our driveway and parking area. that has all run off, but i have no idea when planting will occur here or when i will be able to take a brush to the horses! i will tell you that the bunnies have discovered how lovely, warm, and dry the hay barn is and i now have many friends when i go out to feed! keep up the good healing and peek at the want ads now and then to see when your dream shows up!
