i am thankful :: november blog-o-sphere think tank.
and i should be cleaning or doing laundry or something....
instead, i pull out a drawing pad and my favourite pens and pencils,
and begin to draw and colour.
while i am doing so, i enter a meditative state
wherein
i find myself thinking about all that for which i am grateful.
you see, a while back, i read a post from a friend which stated
upon waking, let your first thought be 'thank you....'
since i was transitioning through some very difficult-yet-exciting changes,
this very concept was just what my spirit and my heart needed.
at first, it was not easy to remember to say thank you as soon as my eyes opened,
because i wanted to jump with both feet and a bucket of anticipation
[or was it anxiety-?]
into what the day held in store for me.
with time, the practice became much less planned,
much less formal, much more a thing of peace and serenity.
every morning, i have a home-grown prayer i recite,
and then i allow thoughts of who and what to enter my mind,
whispering my thank you for that thing, that person being in my life.
i have so very much for which to be grateful.
and i said this to someone just a few days ago, that i am so very blessed
and my life is so very plenteous and bountiful,
and i am so overwhelmingly thankful....
and i believe it is because i am so very thankful....
and it's not like it's some special formula or magic trick that all this is in my life.
it is just simply
an attitude of gratitude.
