Scenes from a week.

The past few weeks have been one long lesson for me.
Every morning, I receive a morning meditation.
This morning:
The way we react to disappointments can often be
more painful and debilitating than the actual events.
Some people, for example, miss out on the joys of life
because they never get over disappointments.
They actually become immobilized by their bitterness and cynicism.
Others burden themselves with long-lasting resentment
against those who supposedly let them down or spurned them.
Still other people withdraw to lick their wounds,
refusing to trust anyone ever again.
Major disappointments can be personally tragic,
there's no question about that.
However, we don't have to go to the aforementioned extremes.
In most instances we have choices.
Let's remind ourselves first that life has to go on -- and will go on --
in spite of adversity and our subsequent disappointment.
Let's make every effort to learn from the event
and to accept things the way they are right now.
If we can do that,
it will be much easier to make new plans
and develop new strategies in line with
our changed situations.
Most important,
we can seek comfort in our faith,
trusting in God's wisdom
and the rightness of his plan for us.
Thought for today:
Everything happens for a reason,
in accordance with the plan of a loving God.
After reading this, I said to myself
"this should have begun with
Dear Marie......"
The thing is, because of some situations I don't want to go into here
nor do I want to disclose the who and what of it all,
I have become bitter and cynical.
More cynical than anything.
I admitted just this past weekend
I'm just not happy right now.
I was not looking for advice
nor did I want to be fixed.
I may be broken, but I know from whence my real Help comes.
However, saying that, I realize that help comes through
the spoken and written words from people who know me well.
BAM.
There it was.
The answer.
Three times this weekend.
Three times after speaking these words from my heart:
I'm just not happy right now.
*
I'm engraving these words into my heart
so that they embed themselves into my thoughts
and roll forth from my mouth:
Here and now, life is good.
*
Thank you for being with me today.
Some of you
-- and you know who you are --
are with me in my heart
every moment of every day.
Big BIG thanks to thee.

P.S.
Yesterday I discovered what my cat looks like naked.
Mountain Milo slipped out of his perpetual harness while outdoors
with Mister Pencilfox.
Don't worry.
No cats were harmed in the proceedings of the day.

Comments
Maybe it's the coronavirus funk. Maybe it's the weight of life itself. Yet, it's OK not to be happy all the time. It's OK.
My heart stopped at that photo of dear Zig with his blanket and his bunny.
And Pinto. And naked Milo!
Heart rocks are in your path these days. Find the good. Let it find you.
