Garden Season Truths.

*********

This summer feels hotter than "usual"...we have seen rain only when that rare evening thunderstorm hovered over the mountains in early June. The garden dirt is so hot from the sun's radiant heat that my feet feel almost-burned when slipping off my sandals to walk barefoot. Hoe'ing and watering early in the morning (early for me is 8 AM-ish) is the best way for my plants to soak up the water they are given. My animal allies walk up Coyote Hill with me, and they find comfort in the shade of the forests. All seeds sown have grown into their greenery, and certain plants (carrots and beets) receive an extra bit of moisture to feed their rootcrops. Rhubarb has been pulled and combined with strawberries for making jam to put-by into the pantry. My favourite part of being up on Coyote Hill is resting in the forest, sitting on a tree stump and talking to Zig where he sleeps in the forest. I know Ziggy hears me, I witness Pintō visiting his grave every day, I believe he sent Biita BerryBug to me, and I believe he watches over us all.
