snow. snowshoe.
warning:
lots of photos.
get your cup of joe
or
cup of tea
or
whatever you need for this journey.
basic equipment:
it ain't too hard to figure out from here.
contacts in.
maui jim sunglasses.
[how funny: look at the reflection in my glasses....]
we own 5+ acres.
i snowshoe because:
i love it.
good exercise.
i want to "recreate" on my own property.
are ya' ready??
first marker:
the old outhouse.
[or in pilgrim-speak: ye old outhouse.]
looking back down the trail:
so far so good.
that's where we're headed:
coyote hill.
approximately 70 degrees of steep.
highbush cranberries.
not a true cranberry.
very stinky and sour.
but, when out in the woods, good juice.
looking back down the hill.
house.
jeep.
truck.
the first thing i look for:
pluck's tree.
i don't head there first.
but i do look there first.
what's this??
ha-hah!
hello, little tree....
spanish moss in alaska.
[smile]
oops:
walked out of my 'shoe.
that happens
when the snow is deep
and
the trail has not been lay'd.
the strappings come loose....
don't'cha' just wanna' sing christmas songs??
and, there it is:
pluckie's tree.
my first serious sled dog was born under this tree.
*pluckie*:
my best friend for 14 years.
every once in a while
i carry ornaments in my pocket
up the hill
to the tree.
looking back toward the trail homeward.
thanks for coming along with me:
first trip of the season
with
more to come....

Thanks for taking us along with you on your trip.
Your land is wonderful, and I especially love the idea of adorning your very special tree with beautiful ornaments!
xo
good to see you. xo
We have "Grandmother Willow" on our property, the very special site down by the slough, where she spreads her wide branches over three of our beloved friends who have passed on. I love the idea of ornaments...might have to attach them with a bit of Super Glue in our wind, though....
Snowshoes looks like some good equipment for North Dakota, although no such steep slope exists around here--I could cruise across the field all winter long (canola stubble this year).
Thanks for the tour!!!!
snowshoe'ing on level ground is a sport unto itself. there are folks who actually RUN and RACE on snowshoes. I DARE YOU :)
and, hello, kathy. [where the heck have you been??] i always tap off the little trees. now i know why. i'll think of you each time i do it. thanks for joining me on my journey. if anyone, *you* know what alaska is like right now. SNOWY and wonderful. love back'at'cha'....
