a pause.

trying to keep on track:

saturday is typically

housekeeping and salmon-smoking day.

to add to the list:

plant the lower garden.

i had just sat down at the table

with a cup of chai

and

all my seeds

when mister pencilfox queried:

wanna' play a game of scrabble?

sure:

anything to spend some time with my sweetie.

saisir l'occasion.

plus:

playing scrabble increases word knowledge.

i made "second tea" for us both:

hot chai with cream.

the pooches dozed.

ziggy kept one ear to the couch

to be alert to any dream disturbances.

pinto:

to my left.

mister pencilfox won.

fair and square.

back to chores at hand:

we go our separate ways

to meet up again

later this evening.

i hold this sweet passing of time

within my heart.
