autumn.

********

funny how autumn is already upon us,
even before the appointed date on the calendar.
alaska is showing her true colours this year,
a lovely bright orange-red-yellow-gold array we've not seen in years.
the temperatures are holding rather nicely,
with the kale and lettuce and flowers still growing in the garden,
still meal-worthy.
i know that it could end all too suddenly,
but right now we are enjoying this extended season.

i'm not one to pay heed to the naysayers
when they predict what sort of winter we will have.
my usual comment is something like let's discuss it next spring, eh?

my heart goes out to my friends who live outside,
hard frosts destroying their gardens,
ruining crops designated for the winter pantry.
hopefully you had enough to put by for enjoyable meals.

just this evening i took myself up coyote hill, the temp being 56F,
and i found myself lingering in the garden rows,
grazing and munching on broccoli and kale.
i clipped a few flowers to take back to the kitchen windowsill,
cut a few small broccoli heads for the enjoyment of mister pencilfox.

this melancholic coyotegirl is working on her thought patterns,
practicing the power of positive thinking….
so with that thought in mind,
i bid you adieu this fine and colourful autumn evening.

may your days be beautiful and full of peace and joy.

Beautiful photos of this beautiful season! Fall has come somewhat early here in the desert too....bringing temps in the 80's instead of the 100's, rain, yes, rain, and a different kind of light. A slightly softer, gentler light.
Enjoy this short, sweet season, dear one. I will do the same. xx

The colors in that second image, Bernard. The flags laying gently across the gorgeous blue green pine. Just love it. The feel of autumn and such calmness abounds in your forest.

just still the itty bitty paper flags, red dirt.
it is my intention to order some REAL flags for that area of the forest.
someday you'll come sit in the quiet and the calm, i hope....

I'll visit the Shambalah in a few short weeks. I will pick them up for you, ok? I'll try to find the spirit horse ones. The ones you can scrawl on. ;)
