….and then, the world turned white.
********
there are so many wonders in the hinterland winterworld.
the snow takes on many shapes -- hillocks, collar-cuffs 'round trees,
and perfect piled-up piles on the stumps where i sit in not-winter.
this trip, this laying of trail, took me less than an hour to snowshoe,
even stopping for photos along the way,
pausing to hang new pennant bunting and say a prayer, recite a poem.
i'd like to think it took less time because i am in much better physical condition
than last winter,
than last winter,
but also, there were only eight inches of snow through which to tromp.
ziggy and pinto tagged along, bounding through fresh snow.
my wee man doggie, in his usual manner, hung so close behind me
he repeatedly stepped on the tail of my 'shoes.
