These snowy days.

This morning I sat in the quiet of this house, Pintō nearby, Milo upstairs snoring in his mid-morning nap. A seasoned oven-baked moose meatloaf and a mint + vanilla candle both lent their scents to open spaces.

Yesterday I punched in part of my snowshoe trail after 28 inches of new snow fell upon Pencilfox Acres. That meant one knee-raise snowshoe step after another, and then again, one after another, slow going until I landed on the first terrace. I chose to cease the battle (as it felt) after just ‘shoe’ing half the trail. Mind you, a good part of that was uphill. I did not regret stopping at that point because quite honestly, this Hobbiten was whipped. My knees were screaming, and my spirit was low. Once I got myself situated in the house, Mister Jones encouraged me to drink electrolyte’d water, and I am so happy I did. My body was happy I did.

Today I was able to return up Coyote Hill to complete punching in the remainder of my snowshoe trail. Muscles are singing a joyous song, bones are joining in on the chorus. Even though my heart is still mournful over not having my Ziggy at my side, all is gonna be alright. There are still times I cry such big fat tears I have to catch my breath, but ya know?....all is gonna be OK. The Universe has blessed me with several props and pillars. And for this, I feel deep gratitude and thanksgiving.

So, you see, life is good. It truly is.
