Nature has put together for us a string of sunny days, which I have enjoyed immensely.
Now we are looking at the promise of some [more or less] snow.
The jetstream changes for us here in the hinterlands,
air currents and mountains and rivers
directing the weatherflow more than folks realize.
These days the pack and I go up Coyote Hill every day,
Berry in his knapsack on my back,
Tō running the trails, making her own in some spots.
Every morning I open my eyes and say
thank you
and I mean it.
I am learning to live from my heart and not my head
unless some decision is required
and I stick by my belief that
it's a good life.
I can putter about the house as I need and as I want,
I can get lost sorting old earrings and discover that I still possess
the little posts I wore when my ears were first pierced
many many years ago.
I get to do as I wish,
be it
clean the house
[or not]
do the laundry
[or not]
knit on those socks I never got around to completing
[this is a yes]
and
I can read one of many new books stacking up at the bedside.
The dogs are snoring on the pillow behind me here,
and I listen to their peaceful rest,
knowing I have done right by them
[and The Cat]
one more day.
Yes.
One more time:
it's a good life.
