the alaska bed project.

five things on this manual labour friday ::
1. many of my cyberfriends know by now:
the job i do to bring home the money takes its toll on my emotions.
this past week was particularly hard on me.
2. the best way i know to shake off mental wear-and-tear
is manual labour:
work the body. let the mind take a rest.
3. mister pencilfox did not know 'til today
that years ago, before he met me,
i peeled many a log with a draw-knife.
we chatted today: while i stripped bark, he watched me work.
4. i wear jewelry when i do manual labour.
it makes me feel all girly while sweating.
5. the logs i peeled today will be included in the bed
mister pencilfox and i are crafting for visitors.
the bed will be part of the furnishings
in the book shed.

i cannot tell you how good i feel today:
the mental tension has flown away.
my muscles ache from the realization of labour.
