i've had enough of it.

funny how the universe works.

it's no secret that recently i have been:
sad.
alone.
hungry.
empty.

today:
i announced to mister pencilfox
and
the universe in general
that i needed a day off
to bolster myself
for the coming attractions.
[so to speak.]

sat down to the computer.
sent an email to one of my friends:
"i miss you. let's meet for tea this week."

then i lay'd the plan for the day:
this was going to be the day to spend time
out in the book shed.
paint garlands
and
happy wee flowers
on the walls.

the pile at the door grew larger.
and larger.
paints.
brushes.
supplies for the book shed:
cups.
plates.
bowls.

just as i prepared to carry the pile
out the door:
my friend called me up:
"would you like some company?"
she queried.

no:
she had not received the email.
she was out shopping.
called me on her mobile.

did i already say?
funny how the universe works.

so as i talked and painted:
she listened.
as i talked:
she smiled at me.

my heart grew lighter.

we walked up the hill.
[ziggy walked up the hill. ziggy walked down the hill. ziggy walked up the hill.]

my friend pointed out wildflowers:
"these were my mother's favourites"
she said.

[pink pyrola arctic wintergreen]

we made our plans for later in the week.
we hugged.
we said our goodbyes.

so now i'm back in my cozy house.
received a note
from a quebecois friend.
enjoying "peace blend" tea sent to me
by another girlfriend.

[i think i need to tell myself again: funny how the universe works.]

life ain't so bad.
life is pretty doggone good.

[true that.]

p.s.
just came in from the book shed:
went out to continue to paint garland and vine.
told myself:
i shall spend a half-hour or so out there.
turned out
that i was out there an hour-and-a-half
painting and pensing.

i am SO blessed by the friendship
of my
girlfriends.
your love lifts me up
and:
gives song to my heart.
gives expression to my soul.
