what i want for the new year.
********
sometimes,
when i realize my losses,
when i gratefully count my blessings,
i don't know what to say about this being "a new year".
there's not much i want to change about myself.
i'm especially driven,
but you already know that if you have read my manifesto.
i'm surrounded by eternally bubbly and happy sanguine-istas.
i'm just not that way.
i know how to say "life is good,"
but i'm a beaver at heart, head-down, tasking the dam.
one day at a time.
not just because this is a new year
but because each day is special.
i'd also like to say that there's enough negativity and hatefulness
in the universe,
so this is what i want, and this is what i'm going to work on:
remaining positive and looking for the good.
i fight for the truth, and i'm a wise old woman in so many ways.
as i age, i realize it's my right and my privilege to speak out
when i see others wronged.
so. here i am. one foot in front of the other. seeking truth, challenging my mind
to not even go there, if you know what i mean.
and with that said:
as i re-program myself, i'm doing this.
HEY.
have i told you lately??
life is good.
