july blog-o-sphere :: "i would be...."
********
the question posed for this month's blog-o-sphere think tank:
On Sunday morning I put on jeans, changed into a denim dress,
then back into jeans again, feeling stupid. I can get into a mood
where I annoy myself no end. At the moment when I got
completely fed up and stopped caring, I had on jeans and
a white cotton shirt and silver earrings, so that's what I wore.
And, yes, I'll admit it, nice underwear.
****
animal dreams
is one of my all-time favourite books.
my copy is dated 1991, purchased shortly after the publish date of 1990,
and every year i pull it off the shelf and read it, savour it, once again.
every year i become cosima nolina.
****
i was going to say
"i would be 'rosie cotton' from 'the hobbit' "
but
while driving home one morning in my mango-tango carnelian jeep,
it hit me:
when i was young, i was codi.
young and living on the edge, bone-thin yet strong,
wearing white shirts with jeans,
my hair chopped-off-short-and-wild,
silver earrings,
and
oh-by-the-way
nice underwear.
right now, i'm more 'rosie cotton'
and my life is so dang good and wonderful
i really don't need to think about which fictional character i would be,
but back then, before i was a hobbit living in the hinterlands,
i was codi.

I think however I would have to pick a different one of her characters I would be
Nannie Land Rawley, just because she is ornery, opinionated and good hearted..
~grin~

I'd have to say I'm in tune with Taylor, from The Bean Trees. Cuz she takes Turtle, in a VW bug no less, to Tucson, my beloved Old Pueblo. When I read that book, I was hooked on BK!
I also love Codi, and can relate. ;)
Love to you today, little Rosie cotton coyote bear.
