lets face it:
sometimes i plant something into the garden
that i really do not like to eat.
we have incorporated all the dwarf curly kale
and other greens and veggies into our meals.
but i found the giant-leaf kale difficult to cut into the salads.
[sorry, giant kale.]
so, not wanting it to sit and go to waste,
i petitioned the queen of green
for some recipes.

yes. i have a juicer.
but this evening,
this rainy rainy soaked-to-the-bone evening,
my body wanted something warm.

oh. my. gosh.
nom. nom. nom.

life is good.
and so is giant kale....

Never been a Kale eater, but it has LOTS of vitamins. I do like chinese cabbage and some of the chards. And BRUSSEL SPROUTS. Almost time to plant, here.

Aarons' Famous Massaged kale salad:

remove big ugly stems and put leafy parts into a bowl after tearing em to a size you would like to eat....pour in T or two of olive oil....massage and squish kale w/ your hands till it gets super soft and basically absorbs the oil...add garlic ( I like fresh chopped but powder will do) pepper, a sprinkle salt or a splash of balsamic vinegar or any other vinegar you like or soy sauce or whatever...just season to taste....

sounds weird but its super good, and good for you...I owe my 5 foot stature to it !....he he he he he!

How funny, we had kale last night and I use the Trader Joe's recipe- sauted with onions, dried tomatoes, chicken sausages and a little feta sprinkled...it is delicious! Yours was a giant one though : )

My apologies if this a bit like telling your granmother how to suck eggs, but, have you tried stir frying the kale with the magical threesome; garlic, ginger and chilli?

y'know, if I may suggest ( can you tell i LOVE kale?!)...that I don't grow the type you do ...I find it more bitter...I do the curly leaf type...and the lacinato type is even milder...just sayin' :)

[mister pencilfox and i just ate kale fried with ginger and garlic, in olive oil. he said "too much garlic" so i rescued the tiny bits from the bottom of his bowl....can NEVER have too much garlic....can NEVER waste garlic!]
