this morning, i drove north on the glenn
-- not seeing mister pencilfox driving past me,
"waving at you....because i love you...." --
to see where and how the matanuska river
made her claims on many folks' lives.

even though i am a tough alaskan girl
who loves her some deep snow for 'shoe'ing every winter....
who loves the rainy days
because the sun shining every day of the summer
makes her feel like she must give up daysleep
when co-workers say
"how can you sleep when the sun is shining??!!"....
i say:
may those who have lost
or will lose
because of this nonstop rain
find some blessings along the way.

life is good.
you know it is.
i know it is.

And I woke to the smell of smoke. Grass fire down the road, out of control yesterday. DRY here.
To everything there is a season.....

water is a force to be reckoned with...
no matter what form it comes in.
and especially when it doesn't come at all.
many local farmers here gave it up this year due to drought,
while hundreds of other homes were lost to raging fires in this state.
may they all find some blessings alone the way.

along.
'along' the way.

exactly. that's what we've been saying up here: we wish we could share this rain, these waters with those "outside" who need relief from fires and the drought.

So many people have lost that connection. But, working with farmers at a farmers market really brings it back into focus. And being around the "old timers" here. The weather is the first thing they comment on. Total strangers will say to you "hey, chance of rain tomorrow" or "that first cold front is late".
